American Cancer Society Scholarship

Students must have been diagnosed with cancer before the age of 21 and be under the age of 25 at the time of application. Students must be a legal resident of Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota or Wisconsin for at least 1 year and be accepted to attend an accredited two to four year university or vocational/technical school.

 

American Legion Auxiliary- Department of South Dakota Scholarships

Students must be the child or grandchild of a veteran, or the child or grandchild of a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, students must be financially unable to attend a university or technical institute after graduation. This is a competitive scholarship that pays tuition and fees to colleges or tech schools in SD.  Must agree to stay in SD to work in critical need occupation such as K-12 music, special education,  foreign language, or as a high school math or science teacher in a public, private, or parochial school.    

Other critical need occupations include a Licensed Practical  Nurse, Registered Nurse, or other positions within an allied health field. 

 

Students must have a cumulative GPA 2.8 or greater and composite ACT score of 24 or greater.

Scholarships will be awarded to nine HS seniors to be used for costs of attending a SD institution of higher learning.  Students attending high school in Brookings, Lake, Lincoln, Minnehaha, Moody or Turner counties are eligible. Students must have high academic achievement as demonstrated by cumulative GPA, class rank, and ACT score. Students must be involved in school and community activities and demonstrate a desire to pursue and meet educational goals.

Four scholarships (two to each school in Dell Rapids) to individuals  whose lives demonstrate the characteristics of forward thinking, volunteerism and service to the community. The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage youth from our community to further their education.

Students must have a cumulative high school grade point average of 2.0 or better and plan to attend an accredited post-high school institution. Emphasis will be placed on how the applicant has demonstrated optimism and service as a regular part of their life.
